mechanism of action: blocks the pituitary
gland from releasing the hormone prolactin
side effects
common: dizziness, weakness, fainting from low
blood pressure, nasal congestion
less common: dizziness, fatigue, nervousness,
depression, ringing in the ears, dry mouth, hair loss, anemia,
impotence
serious: seizures, chest pain, nausea, vomiting,
headache, blurred vision
concerns: avoid driving or operating
heavy machinery; prolonged use may cause uncontrolled movements
of the face, mouth, tongue, arms, legs
