pineal cyst

Pineal cysts are cysts which arise in the region of the pineal gland, which sits just in back of the upper portion of the brainstem.  These cysts are often found incidentally, and are often benign and can be followed on serial MRI scans.  Other types of pineal tumors may arise in this area.
