mra (magnetic resonance angiogram)

Using this technique, an image of the vasculature of the brain can be obtained without the use of an invasive angiogram.  Although the detail and degree of resolution is not as great as with a conventional angiogram (where dye is injected into the arteries), an mra serves as a good screening study, and it is non invasive.  Small aneurysms in the brain (<4 mm) may be missed.
