microscope

The operating microscope allows the neurosurgeon to see better.  It provides magnification, illumination, and the ability for the surgeon to see in stereo (3 - D), even in small spaces.  It is used by the neurosurgeon extensively for operations in the brain and spine.  Pictured here, the surgeon is looking through the operating microscope, which is draped in a sterile barrier.
