A meningioma is a benign tumor which
grows slowly within the skull. It is generally slow growing,
although a small percentage of these tumore are more agressive and
fast growing. Seen here is an MRI scan of a meningioma.
It can be seen compressing the brain, and pushing it to the opposite
side of the head.

The meningioma seen above is a moderately
large one, and required a large scalp incision (seen drawn on the
scalp). The tumor is outlined on the scalp as a closed purple
polygon. The frameless navigation system was used to help
outline the tumor.
