antibiotics, chemotherapeutic agents, and contrast agents are given
intrathecally, that is, through the dura into the cerebrospinal fluid.
This is generally done through a lumbar puncture, unless the patient
has an Omaya reservoir (which delivers the agent through a catheter
into the ventricle). |
