| Aneurysms
within the brain have traditionally been treated by surgical clipping,
but an alternative has arise over the past several years, for appropriate
aneurysms. Detachable platinum coils can be packed into the
dome of the aneurysm, passed through the femoral artery in the leg.
This procedure has its own risks and benefits, but allows treatment
of certain aneurysms without the need for opening the head. |
