is the study of the hormones of the body. These substances help
regulate and keep the body in balance. They control such important
areas as metabolism, temperature regulation, growth, reaction to infection
and stress, and water regulation. The pituitary gland controls
much of this. When there is a tumor of the pituitary gland,
it may be necessary to seen an endocrinologist for hormonal replacement,
especially around the time of surgery on the tumor. |
