carotid bruit
A noise heard, using the stethescope, over the bifurcation of the carotid artery in the neck.  This may be indicative of carotid disease.  It may also be heard over the eye during the much less common condition of carotid cavernous fistula, in which the carotid artery leaks directly sends blood into the cavernous sinus.
